Rapper Edem Laments Free Downloading Of Their Hardworks Ahead Of His New Single

VRMG Boss rapper Edem has lamented the chronic free downloading of songs ahead of his latest single.

The rapper has been a voice against the loopholes in the Ghanaian industry which loots artistes of their royalties and gains directly and indirectly for years and has reiterated that in a Facebook convo with a fan.

Edem is set to make available on all platforms his new single featuring songstress Efya and Sarkodie titled Favour on the 19th of February 2021.

Whiles some fans believe he is the only one ‘living’ the unique hip-hop culture as the other rappers deviate to trends, Edem labeled free downloads as one reason why he has for a long time released any hip-hop tune as his afrobeat hits are his main cash-cow.

Coupled with the free download and the low attendance at his shows, the rapper revealed that DJs don’t play his hip hop tunes unless it comes with a video.

Perhaps one point he failed to realize is the role of a strong fanbase among the lots that the majority of the artistes are using to boost their numbers on the streaming platforms.

Arguably the most versatile artiste at this side of the African continent, Edem is yet to nail it as big and old as his brand is – fewer numbers, followership compared to his colleagues and even some other artistes he ushered into the mainstream, or we should blame it on DJs who don’t play his songs just because they don’t understand ewe but play Yoruba songs by Phino Phyno and Olamide?
