Xenophobia: South Africa Musicians Kick Against Burna Boy.

In relation to things that happened during the recently ended xenophobia attack on foreign nationals in South Africa, Some musicians in SA are trying to pay Burna Boy back for his comments and treats.

Some group of artists with the name Tshwane Collection has presented a letter to the Ministry Of Arts and culture petitioning to remove Burna Boy from a two days music concerts in SA.

The Africa Unite concert is organised and scheduled for 23 and 24 November by a Nigerian based company called Play Africa Network and supported by the Arts Ministry Of SA. The company partners with Phambili Media SA to reunite the two countries after the xenophobia.

However the Tshwane Collection artists wants Burna Boy removed due to his hateful words during the xenophobia.

They wrote: Who ever may deemed that the country needs a PR exercise would have done so largely as a result of the callous, misleading and unwanted excitement by this very artist. Not only did he spread falsehood through his extensive platform, he literally incited violence and hate. He further promised to inflict his own violence on locals before giving your government an ultimatum which you seemed to have accepted and succumbed to.

In September, Burna was involved in a tweet combat with AKA when urging foreign national to protect themselves from the attack. Though he has deleted the tweets, we recalled that he told AKA to beef up his security, threaten never to step in SA and finally gave AKA the middle finger.

However, Burna was not aware of the protest against him when he announced on the 9th of November that he will donate part of his gain from the concert to the victims of the attack.

The department of Arts and Culture has therefore removed itself from the concert and claimed it’s logo were ‘erroneously’ used for advertisement.

The department of Sport, Arts and culture wishes to dispel the false information currently on social media that it is funding the Africa Unite concert headlined by the artist known as Burna Boy. It was unfortunate the department’s logo was erroneously used on the poster advertising the event” Spokesperson Asanda Magaqa told TshisaLIVE.
