Ghana Ladies In Tech Holds Maiden Award Ceremony

The maiden edition of the Ghana Ladies In Tech (GLIT) summit and awards has honoured several women in technology for their role in the male-dominated industry.

The awards, which seeks to recognize and celebrate female entrepreneurs and innovators across the country, are the initiative of Ghana Tech Lab and a host of other partners such as the Communication Ministry, MasterCard Foundation, etc.

In her welcome address, the National Coordinator for GLIT, Belinda Darkwa explained that her organization organizes counseling sessions, training, and workshops in areas key to the development in the Tech space. She added that the award ceremony is to crown all of their nationwide activities.

Ladies from across the country made presentations on the latest innovations. YisonTech Hub came out as winners of the GLIT community pitch with their ‘Mentor Me’ innovative app which will seek to guide especially young girls who would use the app and by so doing helping them with great opportunities.

Most Skillful Shepreneur of the Year – Paulette Watson of STEM Academy Achievers. Her #BeMe Project aims to raise 1 million black girls’ aspirations in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) careers.

Hardware Engineer of the Year – Belinda Akaba of Solar Taxi. She is a female engineer with blazing expertise in the hardware engineering field effectively over the past two years.

Best Media House – Supporting Female Entrepreneurship – Digital Times Africa

Women Empowerment Hub of the Year – Soronko Academy

Best Femtech Programme of the Year – National Female Pre-Tech Training

FemTech Mentor of the Year – Regina Honu of Toronto Academy

Catering Entrepreneur of the Year – Felicia Asiamah of Fellys Food and Rental

GLiT Coordinator of the Year – Juliana of Yison Tech Hub in Upper West Region

Corporatepreneur of the Year – Felicia Asiamah also of Universal Merchant Bank

FemTech Personality of the Year – Mariam Kaleem, Head of Digital Marketing at LetShego
