Disaster: Ghost Fire Sweeps Shops At Osu.

Fire from unknown source destroyed about 7 cars at a motorbike at one mechanic shop at Osu in Accra on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports from atinkanews, the cars destroyed are new ones which were parked a little repairs at the shop with another motorbike quite far away from the shop too was burnt. This implies how far the fire went.

Source of the fire is yet to be confirmed as but the majority believe it could be a electrical fault.

With no extinguishers around the vicinity to keep things under control, it took the fire service almost an hour to quench the fire.

Nobody was caught in the fire, thus, no injury.

Ghana To Abandon Cedi For Eco.

Ghana alongside some eight African countries [Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte D’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo]  will soon tune to the use the new proposed Eco currency.

The bill is believe to take effect beginning 2020 among the member countries of The West African Monetary and Economic Union (also known under the French acronym, UEMOA

The single currency will help in removing trade and monetary challenges, bring down transaction costs, improvement in economic activities and also bring better living standard.

The country is therefore calling up heads in affairs at the ECOWAS to accelerate works to implement the new currency.

“…...Ghana urges the other Member States Of ECOWAS to work rapidly towards the implementing the decisions of the authorities of ECOWAS, which adopting a flexible exchange rate regime , instituting a federal system for the ECOWAS Central Bank, and other related agreed criteria, to ensure that we achieve the single currency objectives of ECOWAS.”

DECLARATION BY THE GHANA GOVERNMENT ON THE ADOPTION OF THE ECO

The Ghana government had had notice of the declaration made on Saturday, 21st Dec. 2019, by the President of the union Allassane Ouattara on the decision taken by the eight African countries to stop the use of CFA Franc, in support of the proposed new currency ECO, beginning 2020.

This is a welcomed decision which Ghana eagerly applauds. It is good testimony to the importance establishing a monetary union and also a great boost to the great agenda of West Africa integration.

We, in Ghana are ready to do whatever we can to enable us join the union soon, in the use of the ECO.

Mobile Money Dealer Shot Dead In Bole

A number of unknown group of people have shot dead a mobile money vendor in township of Bole in the Savanna Region.

Per reports, the deceased Stephen Bakawe was shot in his bedroom hours after he returned from in the night around 10pm on Friday.

The Police has not yet arrest any suspect in relation to the murder but investigations are still on-going.

People living in Bole revealed they are now afraid for their lives as there have been several killings in Bole over the month.

According to some residents , two other MOMO vendors were attacked recently: one dead, one survived. Whilst a sub-chief in Tinga was also killed in his room.

They, therefore pleads with the government to elevate security measures in the district.

All Photos And Video From Abuja Bank Robbery.

Earlier today, a number of armed young men made their ways into one Abuja Bank in Nigeria but failed to make away with their loots after locals and policemen arrived at the scene.

They were trapped in the building for some time until the arrival of some military men who were able to break into the building after exchanging few bullets with the armed robbers.

In the attempt force the robbers out, one of them was shot dead.

 

The FCT of Nigerian Police Bala Ciroma confirmed the incident to the media 

He said:it was failed attempt, we stopped the arm-robbers from robbing the bank, four arrests were made and one killed. Investigation is underway to get to know how they entered the bank and other things.

A Lot Of Police Cannot Speak Nor Write Basic English – Reports.

The political interference in other affairs of the nation is doing more harm than good as Police reports released has indicated that  more than half of the Ghanaian Police Personnel can’t speak basic English.

Some of them cannot sign their signatures, therefore resorting to the old way of thumb printing.

“…It is so sad to find men and women today who cannot read and write, who have to go the bank and use thumb print ” Deputy Director of Transformation Program Office of the Ghana Police, DSP Henry Ayisi  raised concerns over the quality of some of the service personnel.

“…Oh my God! why should it happen to Ghana? And the facilitating factor is politics” he cried, saying politics in recruitment process is killing the quality of the recruits.

DSP stated that a lot of the people are handpicked and promoted over others, an dangerous thing killing the performance of policing in Ghana.

The DSP raised these concerns at a workshop organised by Hanns Seidel Foundation [ HSF ] in collaboration with Ghana Police.

He also moaned how some Municipal District Chief Executives are fond of ordering the police to release people they had arrested.
