12 years old boy crushed to death at a construction site at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
A pick up vehicle with registration number 2102-17 belonging to Brazilian construction company Quirez Galvao was reported to be reversing when it knocked and crushed the boy who was crossing the Bolgatanga Bawku – Pulmako road on a bicycle.
The rear tyres of the vehicle smashed the head of the boy, killing him on the spot.
Residents of Aramkoliga were outraged at the incident but peace prevailed after the Police arrived on time to take over situations to prevent attack on the construction workers.
Work on the Bolgatanga Bawku – Pulmako road was halted for a day after workers fled the project site in fear of attack from the residents.
The deceased identified as Thomas Asore a class 3 pupil of Lamboya Model Primary School has been conveyed to Zebilla Government Hospital Morgue for autopsy according to superintendent of police Mr. Adam Ahmed Mahama.
The driver of the vehicle, Oheneba Kwajo Safo, was detained for questioning as part of investigations into the case while the vehicle has also impounded for testing, according to the police.
He cautioned motorist and pedestrians to be careful when using the roads under construction to avoid unnecessary accidents
