Okudzeto Ablakwa Slaps His Colleagues In The Face – Deputy Majority Chief Whip

Following the sudden resignation of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Habib Idrissu, the Deputy Majority Chief Whip has called for the resignation of the MP from parliament.

If you listen to the narrative, the fact that Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa came out to the public to resign from the Appointment Committee, you see he has not clearly stated the reason for his resignation. But if it is linked to the consensus approval of finance minister Ken-Ofori Atta, he should from the Parliament as an MP – Habib Idrissu told Joynews reporter.

“It is on record of the party, that’s NDC, that they decide to allow the Finance minister to go through”

Mr. Habib Idrissu also stated that Okudzeto Ablakwa should have opposed Ken Ofori Atta’s approval if he wasn’t satisfied with the latter responses during the vetting.

Hon. Ablakwa was a member of the Appointments Committee, he had his turn to question the minister of anything of doubt to him, and even after that, if he is not convinced, he can vote against the nominee.

But if you look at the Appointment Committee, it says ‘by consensus’ and by consensus means that those parties have agreed to pass the nominee.

Habib Idrissu further added; “For Ablakwa to betray his party members, if his resignation is truly related to the approval of the Finance Minister, is a slap in the face of colleagues”
