A young man of about 25 years old, identified as Bismark Asare, has been left battling for his life at the Koforidua Hospital after an enraged mob attacked and subjected him to severe, exemplary beating, for allegedly stealing a large quantity of ( wee )marijuana.
The young man was attacked last Thursday at Kyeremateng Yoyim, a predominantly farming community near Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the mob of ten young men accosted the victim, accused him of having stolen the wee belonging to an unnamed person and before he could finish uttering his denial, he was pounced upon and beaten mercilessly.
His brother’s plea for mercy was ignored. And when he tried to intervene, he was also pounced upon and beaten mindlessly.
When the victim was finally left unconscious whereupon his family rushed him to the Eastern Region Hospital in Koforidua where he has been admitted and is currently responding to treatment. The victim unable to speak audibly is yet to give his side of the story.
But according to the Eastern Regional Police Command, investigations are ongoing to arrest the attackers who are currently on the run.
Meanwhile the alleged wee and its owner are yet to be identified and arrested.
