The defender named Sarpong narrate his hassle after missing the penalty against South Africa during the tournament in Egypt.

” A lot of attack and insults have been thrown at me on the social media and in real life, because am well known in my area, my siblings and parents also receive attacks whenever they meet the angry people outside. So I was advised to stay indoors” he revealed.

In an interview with Kobina on Adom Fm, Sarpong revealed that he took the kick because no one was willing to take it after the first five kicks.

” I felt so bad when l missed the penalty because l have witnessed a lot especially when Asamoah Gyan missed his penalty. I wanted to make Ghana, myself and family proud but that couldn’t happen.”

However he vowed to take more penalties for Ghana if the need arises because he is young and has more ahead of him.

” Am ready to go and learn more to improve on my penalty kicks, moreover, am young, just 22 years old so l will take more penalties for Ghana whenever the l get chance to prove myself wrong”

He therefore apologised to all Ghanaians about the incident.
