Retired Iran international footballer Ali Daei has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s taking over as the all-time men’s international top scorer after netting two to level France in the ongoing Euro2020.
The Iran international who also played for German clubs Bayern Munich, Arminia Bielefeld, and Hertha Berlin during his prime took a period of 13 years between 1993 to 2006 to set the record of a whopping 109 goals for his national team in all games.
Cristiano Ronaldo, being very consistent with his Portugal national team since his debut game for the senior international team Portugal in 2003 at age 18 and has since earned over 170 caps, including appearing and scoring in eleven major tournaments, becoming Portugal’s most capped player and his country’s all-time top goalscorer.
Having vowed to break and set more records during the ongoing euro2020, Cristiano Ronaldo is the new all-time man, top scorer, in international caps.
Ali Daei expressed his joy in having his decade-long record broken by the Portuguese International, captioning him as the great champion of football and a caring humanist.
Congratulations to @cristiano who is now one goal away from breaking the men’s international goal scoring record. I am honored that this remarkable achievement will belong to Ronaldo – a great champion of football and caring humanist who inspires and impacts lives throughout the world. Vamos! he wrote.
Meanwhile, the football world believes that as Cristiano Ronaldo is not done with the euro2020, having qualified for the Round of 16 after finishing as the 3rd best team in the group D, just as they did before progressing to win the cup in 2018, he is bound to add more to his tally as the top scorer of the tournament and taking his 109 total to a higher number.
