WhatsApp To Stop Working On Millions Of Phones Starting February 2020.

According to the Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp will be deactivated on some older phones devices by 1 February 2020.

According the app on it’s support page, some smartphones will be prevented from accessing the app, claiming it is a necessary move for security reasons.

A lot of versions ranging from android, windows and iPhone or apple phones will be affected starting on the announced date.

IPhones running on IOS 8 or earlier will no more access the app.

” For super experience, we recommend using the latest version available for your mobile version” whatsApp revealed in a post.

 

Androids running on version 2.3.3 also known as gingerbread will not also be eligible for the app and older account will be blocked.

Windows phones running on windows 8.1 or beyond will not suffer the cull.

The good news is users who will be affected by the change can update their OSs to keep using the platform. However older phones will be stopped from using the app or have difficulties in running some operations.

WhatsApp described the operation as ‘ tough decision’ cutting users from the platform however security must be guaranteed.
