For Udall undergraduate scholarship, an interested candidate cannot apply directly, they can only be nominated by the scholarship faculty representative from their college or university.
This Udall scholarship awards sophomores and juniors who are already enrolled in an accredited college or university. At least 80 undergraduate nominees are awarded annually to students who are studying in fields related to the environment and to Native American and Alaska Native students studying fields related to health care and tribal policy.
Eligibility Requirements For Udall Undergraduate Scholarship
To be able to benefit from this scholarship, you must the following criteria aside from being a US citizen, US national US permanent resident with valid documents.
- Studying in fields related to the environment or a Native American American or Alaska Native student committed to a career in tribal public policy or Native American health care.
- An enrolled sophomore or junior for two or four years in an accredited institution of higher studies.
- Studying a bachelor’s or associate degree
- Pursuing full-time studies in the next academic year after winning the award.

- Three letters of recommendation speaking about your leadership values, public service, and academic achievements
- Transcripts for all college coursework
- An 800-word essay

How To Apply For The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship
Students cannot apply directly for Udall Scholarships but must be nominated by a Udall Scholarship Faculty Representative from their college or university. Each institution may nominate six students. You can identify your school’s Faculty Representative through the “Faculty Representative Locator” tool on the Udall Foundation website.

The 2023 online application is available. Faculty representatives may register students for their campus nomination process at http://facultyreps.udall.gov.

Faculty reps must register students for the online application by this date.

Applications must be submitted through the online system by 11:59 p.m. MST (Note: institutional deadlines may be earlier. Please check with your faculty representative.)
April 18
Faculty reps can check their studentsā application status at http://facultyreps.udall.gov and may notify their students of the results.
April 20
The Udall Foundation will send email notifications to all applicants.
