Sharp Resurgence Of COVID-19 Cases In Ghana Looks Scary

There has been a sharp rise in Ghana’s coronavirus cases with the deaths also increasing from 327 to 331 within a few days.

Since March, when the first two cases were confirmed in the country, a total of 53,553 cases have been confirmed.

Most of these cases, about 29,474, have been recorded in the Greater Accra Region.

In the latest case count released by the Ghana Health Service on its website on Friday, December 18, 52,266 persons have since recovered or been discharged.

There has been a fluctuation in the incidence of active cases. After going past 1,000 yet again, the cases have dropped to 956.

The country’s total positivity rate is at 8.4. The recovery-cum-discharge rate is 97.6.

So far, the Ahafo, Savannah and Western North regions have no active cases. Oti Region has only one active case. About 144 cases were found after tests at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
