As Muslims in theĀ Ledzokuku constituency and across the country commemorate the end of Ramadan with Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations today, it’s a privilege to congratulate them for the successful completion of yet again a month-long period of fasting and prayers.
The holy month of Ramadan marks a significant milestone on the Islamic calendar and therefore, it behooves every Islamic adherent to partake in this sacred religious obligation to continuously strengthen their spiritual beliefs in Almighty Allah.
The celebration is usually characterized by almsgiving (Zakat), merrymaking, and offering of special Eid prayers to thank Allah for having safely gone through the fasting period.
As the Member of Parliament (MP) for this constituency, I wish to humbly implore you to continuously embrace each other devoid of any doctrinal differences whiles guarding jealously the existing peace and harmony we keep enjoying.
Instructively, this year’s celebrations, however, comes at a time when we are currently being plagued with a dreaded global pandemic, COVID 19, for which reason the annual Eid prayers could not be held in a large congregation and open air space like before owing to gov restrictions on public gatherings.
Moreso, I duly acknowledged with pains the devastating impact of this pandemic on our ailing economy, not to talk of the unbridled hardship brought to bear on us.
Considering the above-stated, I wish to reaffirm my commitment to fully implement a series of planned initiatives that have already begun in earnest with the primary motive of creating job opportunities and favorable working conditions to empower businesses operating within the municipality.
Ultimately, my plea to the youth on this festive day is to be moderate with their celebrations.
