The Kwahu Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has banned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from undertaking any political activities and branding on its jurisdiction.
The punishment is in response to the invocation of curses by some regional leaders of the party recently contrary to an edict against such behaviour on Kwahu land.
Recently, the party’s Regional Communication Officer, Mr Dallas Williams; Deputy Regional Youth Organiser Sidi Bello and a former Youth Organiser, Mr Daniel Aboagye, among others, invoked curses on the banks of River Trado, Nkawkaw, on some alleged aliens purportedly smuggled into the area by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to take part in the Electoral Commission’s ongoing voter registration exercise.
The Linguist to the Kwahu Traditional Area, Nana Akouko Boateng, who announced the ban, also ordered the closure of two pro-NDC radio stations, Okwahu FM and Afram FM,s owned by the party’s former Eastern Regional Secretary, Mr Mark-Oliver Kevor.
The Council said it is appalled by the refusal of Mr Kevor to honour a summons extended to him but rather uses his radio stations to run the run down the traditional leaders.
The Council said if the stations remained operational after mid-day Thursday, they would advise themselves on the next line of action.
