A South African breast cancer survivor has taken to Twitter to educate her followers on early signs of breast cancer and symptoms for both men and women as she has experienced.
The_OfficialBiz, the Twitter username of this survivor narrated how cancer developed in her, took over her tissues and blood cells, and finally took away her beautiful breast due to surgery to get rid of the malady.
She stressed the early signs of breast cancer among both genders and entreated check-up and self-assessment of one’s breast.
She wrote; Some warning signs of breast cancer
New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).
Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.
Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.
Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast.
Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area.
Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.
Any change in the size or the shape of the breast.
Pain in any area of the breast.
Keep in mind that these symptoms can happen with other conditions that are not cancer.
Young adults CAN and DO get breast cancer. When it comes to breast cancer symptoms and signs of the disease, you are looking for more than just a lump. Breast cancer statistics show that nearly 80% of young adults find their abnormality themselves.
So it’s important to get familiar with your breasts and aware of the signs and symptoms. Tell your doctor right away if you notice any changes in your breasts
Breast cancer may not cause any signs or symptoms in its early stages. Signs and symptoms often appear when the tumor grows large enough to be felt as a lump in the breast or when cancer spreads to surrounding tissues and organs.
Late symptoms of breast cancer include :
* bone pain
* weight loss
* nausea
* loss of appetite
* jaundice
* shortness of breath
* cough
* headache
* double vision
* muscle weakness
