Story Time: Chris The Hard Guy – Chapter II

It’s Monday morning. I’m seated on my new desk trying to catch up on the PA work. I have never been a PA anywhere else. It’s all weird for me but you can’t afford to be choosy when it comes to work. It’s my first day at work and I have not seen my boss yet.

I just hope he is a nice person. Not like my previous boss. I grit my teeth in anger when I remember what he tried to do to me. That and Vincent leaving me is enough to make me say I have been through a lot.

I take my phone and look at their picture for the hundredth time. Disgusting! They don’t look good together! Maybe I’m jealous but why would I be? They are not my type of couple. Someone taps on my desk and snaps me out of my phone. I look up and I’m staring into the same beautiful eyes. It’s the same arrogant guy from the club. I’m surprised to see him here and I can tell he is too.

“ You must be kidding me. Are you stalking me by any chance? What are you doing here?” I ask glaring at him. His lips twitch in a smile and he is so calm.
“ I should be asking the same question! What do you have that would make me want to stalk you?” I swallow bitterly. His words hurt me deeply. He makes it feel like I’m the ugliest woman in the world.

“Are you always that arrogant?”
“Not to everyone but to some women like you. You are arrogant too. So what are you doing here guzzler?” He still calls me that.
“I’m not guzzler! I’m Amelia. You should tell me what you are doing here.”
“Amelia or guzzler, it’s all the same for me. That there is my office. I own this place.” I gasp at his words and I can see him struggling to stifle out laughter. That means one thing. He is my boss! I’m going to be the arrogant guy’s PA! Things can’t get worse!

“The cat caught your tongue? What are you doing here?” A smile is still twitched on his lips.
“I’m working here. I’m the new PA.” I’m so humble this time round. I have to be careful or else I will be sacked.

“Wow! So you can be this good! I didn’t know!” he is so sarcastic on me. I keep quiet and look down. I can feel his eyes still on me. I don’t know what I should say. Working under him will be so hard. If things get worse I will have to look for another job. It’s that simple.

“So you are going to be working with me? Sorry, not with me but under me!” I can trace some sarcasm in his voice. He is still trying to stifle out laughter. I have the urge to glare and snap at him but I control myself. This is what I will be going through everyday.

“Who called you Amelia? I don’t remember doing so.” He has a dark gaze on me. He doesn’t call me guzzler this time round and I sigh heavily.

“I came for an interview on Friday and I passed. The HR called me and told me to start working today.” I’m fondling with my phone. I don’t want to look at him.
“ I like it when people look at me when they talk. That’s a sign of respect.”

“Okay sir! Sorry about that.” I can’t believe I have called him that. This is so hard for me. It’s as if we are in a competition and he is winning. He is smiling. He is enjoying humiliating me.

“Nice! I don’t think you would have been the best to work with but I can try. I think it will be fun. I want to see how far you can go with your arrogance. I hope Ann briefed you on your job.” Ann is the HR.

“ I know you don’t like me and the feeling is mutual but I’m willing to do anything to keep this job. I will do my best.”
“Anything? Including sleeping with me?” his lips are twitched in a smile.
“I didn’t mean that. I meant something like being submissive to you.”
“ So if sleeping with your boss is part of your work as a PA, won’t you do that?” He has a stupid grin on his face.

“No! In that case I will have to resign. I don’t do that sir.”
“Wow! I like that. I guess I can work with you.”

He smiles and gets into his office. I breath heavily. I hadn’t noticed I was holding my breathe. He is so handsome and I just want him to continue looking at me with his beautiful eyes. I can feel he has a great effect on me. I can’t put up with his arrogance just to see him. He is so annoying but I like him.

His fragrance is all over the place. I imagine his lips on mine and smile foolishly. Shit! He is dating! Why does he have a girlfriend? I don’t mind a one night stand with him. To hell with the girlfriend! After what Vincent did, I promise myself that I won’t date anymore. Just casual hookups.

The memory of Vincent makes me bitter. You stay with an asshole for five years when he has nothing and now that he is successful he decides to leave you! His excuse? His heart is somewhere else. There is no way I will let it go just like that. He hurt be badly and he will pay for it. I have not come up with a revenge plan yet. Maybe I should call Ellen. She is my best friend and she is a bad ass revenger. Always a b#tch! I know she will come up with a perfect revenge plan. I need to call her.

The phone rings and snaps me out of my reverie. I pick the call immediately and it’s the deep voice!
“Can you come to my office Amelia?”
His deep voice makes me shiver. I just want to hear it again and again.
“Amelia!” he barks on the phone and I tremble.
“sorry about that. Right away sir!”

I knock on his door softly and get in. He is seated on his office chair looking at me intently. His gaze makes me feel as if I will fall anytime. His office is so enormous and the distance between us seems so long. I have few more steps to go and he is still staring at me. I finally get to where he is. I look at him and his eyes are piercing into mine. I can’t sit without him telling me to.
“ Have a seat Amelia.”

I’m so uncomfortable with his presence and I’m holding my breathe. He looks so good in the grey suit and I can tell it cost him a fortune. The office his filled with his cologne and I just want to stay here smelling it the whole day. I’m so lost in fantasy and I don’t realize he is smiling and waiting for me to sit. I apologize quickly and sit.
“You finally manage to sit. You are so weird Amelia!” He is grinning. I don’t say anything. I’m just staring at him.

“I’m trying to use the name Amelia here. I’m so used to guzzler. I like it better!” I’m almost snorting but I control myself. He is now my boss and I can’t snort at him.
“I prefer Amelia sir. What can I do for you?”

“I will try to work with Amelia. I was curious about you and I have been looking at your information here. According to your CV, you did business administration. Why did you choose a PA job? You could have applied for an operations manager job or something that is related to your course.

“I didn’t have a job and I couldn’t afford to be choosy. This is the only vacancy that was advertised for and I decided to try.”
“That’s true. What happened to your previous job?”
“It’s a long story sir.”
“Well, I have all the time Amelia!”
“Not now sir. Maybe some other day. I need to catch up with my work. I can’t afford making mistakes on my first day here.”
“ I want to hear the reasons. I need to know why you left your previous job. That’s how I work Amelia.” The way he mentions my name makes me shiver and I already feel the effect on my groin.

“Is it an interview sir? I thought I went through that.”
He laughs and his dark gaze is on me.
“I just want to know who I will be working with. I need to know my PA well. Are you getting me?”
“Sure sir. Can I put it in writing?” I want to get out of his office.
He is handsome, has sexy eyes, is arrogant, annoying and bossy. I still like him. He is my type. I notice something. I still don’t know his name. He is just the arrogant guy to me.
