Ghana Armed Forces Releases 2020 Requirement List.

The Ghana Armed Forces has released the enlistment requirements list for civilians who will be seeking to joining the service in the 2020 recruitments

2020 ENLISTMENT INTO THE GHANA ARMED FORCES
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Eligible applicants should:
a. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
b. Be of good character.
c. Not be less than 18 years and not more than 26 years by 06 August 2020 for Regular Commission, and not more than 30 years by 27 February 2020 for Short Service Commission.
d. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces standard.
e. Not be bonded.
f. Not be married (for Regular Officer Candidates only).
g. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.60m (5’4”) for females.
For Military Police only; the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5`9“) and 1.70m (5’ 7”) for females.
h. Must have the following:
(1) BECE. Six (6) Passes at BECE including English and Mathematics.
(2) WASSCE. Six (6) Credits (not less than C6) including Core English and Core Mathematics.
OR
 
(3) SSSCE. Six (6) Credits (not less than D) including Core English and Core Mathematics.
OR
 
(4) GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels. Five (5) Credits (not less than 6) including English and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and not less than D in three subjects and General Paper at GCE ‘A’ Level.
REGULAR OFFICER CANDIDATES

ARMY
a. Infantry/Armour/Artillery.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University.
b. Signal Corps.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Telecommunication Engineering.
(2) Computer Science.
(3) Computer/Software Engineering.
. (4) Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
(5) Instrumentation/Systems/Network Engineering.
(6) Radio and Satellite Communication Engineering.
(7) Geomatic Engineering.
(8) Physics/Mathematics.
c. Engineer Corps. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1) Civil Engineering.
(2) Electrical Engineering.
(3) Mechanical Engineering (Building Services Option).
(4) Building Technology/Construction Management.
(5) Geomatic Engineering.
(6) Geological Engineering.
(7) Material Engineering.
(8) Quantity Surveying.
(9) Agricultural Engineering.
d. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1) Agricultural Engineering.
(2) Material Engineering.
(3) BTech (Automobile).
(4) Electrical Engineering.
(5) Electronics Engineering.
(6) Mechanical Engineering.
(7) Physics.
(8) Chemistry.
(9) Mathematics.
(10) Biomedical Engineering.
e. Military Police.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1) Forensic Science.
(2) Sociology/Psychology.
(3) Business Administration.
(4) Political Science.
(5) Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics.
f. Ordnance Service. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Chemistry/Biochemistry.
(2) Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
(3) Economics.
(4) Publishing.

g. Supply and Transport Corps. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
(2) Business Administration.
h. Forces Pay Corps. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Accounting.
(2) Finance.
(3) Economics.
(4) Commerce.
(5) Alternatively, applicants with CA (Ghana), CIMA, ACCA, CPA, ICSA are eligible.
i. Information Technology. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1) Computer Science.
(2) Computer Engineering.
(3) Information Technology.
(4) Network/Software Engineering.
(5) Cyber/Forensic Security.
(6) Network Security.
(7) Information Technology Systems Auditing.
j. Education Corps. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree in Education not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution.
k. Public Relations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:
(1) Communication (Studies and Design).
(2) Public Relations.
(3) Fine Arts (NAFTI).
(4) Journalism.
(5) Film and Television Production.
(6) Broadcasting.

l. Physical Training and Sports. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree in Physical Education not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution.
m. Band. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Music from a recognized University/Institution.  
n. Records. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree
not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in the following:
(1) Actuarial Science.
(2) Administration (Human Resource).
(3) Statistics.
(4) Management Information Studies.
(5) Archival Studies.

NAVY
a. Executive Branch. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Nautical Science.
(2) Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Statistics.
(3) Computer Science.
(4) Oceanography or Geomatic Engineering.
b. Technical Branch. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1) Marine Engineering.
(2) Mechanical Engineering.
(3) Electrical Engineering.
(4) Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
c. Supply and Secretariat Branch. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:
(1) Administration (Human Resource/Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Finance).
(2) Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
(3) Port and Shipping Administration.
(4) Management Studies/Commerce.
(5) Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
(6) Economics.
(7) Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in the following:
(a) Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration (ICSA) – Final Part.  
(b) Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Level 5.
(c) Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) – Final Part.
d. Public Relations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:

(1) Communication (Studies and Design).
(2) Public Relations.
(3) Fine Arts (NAFTI).
(4) Journalism.
(5) Film and Television Production.
(6) Broadcasting.
e. Band. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Music from a recognized University/Institution.  

AIR FORCE
a. Air Branch (Pilot and Air Traffic Control Operations). In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Private/Commercial/Airline Transport Pilot License or any other Pilot certificate from a recognized University/Institution.
b. Supply Branch.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:
(1) Administration (Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Procurement).
(2) Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Final Part.
(3) Chartered Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CILT) – Final Part.
(4) Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
(5) Commerce.
(6) Economics.
c. Administration Branch.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:
(1) Administration (Human Resource/Accounting).
(2) Arts or Social Science.
(3) Management Studies.
(4) Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration (ICSA) – Final Part.
d. Engineering Branch.

(1) Mechanical. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:
(a) Aerospace Engineering.
(b) Aeronautical Engineering.
(c) Mechanical Engineering.
(d) Agricultural Engineering.
(2) Avionics.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:

(a) Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
(b) Computer Engineering.
(c) Telecommunication Engineering.
SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (ARMY/NAVY/AIR FORCE)

ENGINEER CORPS
a. Architecture. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in Architecture, be a registered member of Ghana Institute of Architects and must not be more than 35 years of age by 27 February 2020.
b. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years by 27 February 2020 and must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower and a Masters Degree/Post Graduate Diploma from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1) Agricultural Engineering.
(2) Material Engineering.
(3) BTech (Automobile).
(4) Electrical Engineering.
(5) Electronics Engineering.
(6) Mechanical Engineering.
(7) Biomedical Engineering.

LEGAL In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years by 27 February 2020 and must have a First Degree from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:
a. Bachelor of Law, LLB.
b. Barrister at Law (BL) certificate.
c. Must have done Pupillage and 3 years Post Call working experience.

MEDICAL
a. Medical Specialist. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Fellowship or its equivalent from an accredited College. Applicants must have permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana and must not be more than 40 years of age by 27 February 2020.

b. Medical Officer and Dental Surgeon. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited University/Institution. Must have permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana. At least one (1) year working experience after housemanship in a recognized health facility and must not be more than 35 years of age by 27 February 2020.

c. Pharmacist. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have Bachelor/Doctor of Pharmacy (BPharm/PharmD) from an accredited University/Institution. Applicant must have at least two (2) years working experience as a Pharmacist in an accredited health facility and must be registered with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana. Must not be more than 30 years of age by 27 February 2020.

d. Physician Assistant (Medical). In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in Physician Assistantship or its equivalent. Must have completed the mandatory clinical rotation and practised for at least three (3) years post permanent registration. Applicants with First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Physician Assistantship plus Advanced Diploma in Community Medicine and Health who have worked for at least two (2) years could also apply. Applicants must have permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana and must not be more than 33 years of age by 27 February 2020.

e. Nursing/Health Tutor. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have MPhil in Nursing/Midwifery or MSc/MA in Nursing/Midwifery with postgraduate Diploma/Certificate in Education.  Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. At least one (1) year teaching experience in an accredited Nursing/Midwifery institution is required and must not be more than 35 years of age by 27 February 2020.

f. Specialized Nurses. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following nursing specialties; Critical Care, Emergency Care, ENT, Ophthalmic, Peri-operative Paediatrics, and  Dialysis. At least two (2) years working experience post permanent registration in a recognized health facility is required. Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and must not be more than 33 years of age by 27 February 2020.

g. Midwifery Officer. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in Midwifery. Must have completed the mandatory clinical rotation and have practiced for at least three (3) years post permanent registration. Applicants with Registered Midwifery (RM) certificate in addition to the First Degree in Midwifery must have practised for two (2) years post permanent registration. All applicants should not be more than 33 years of age by 27 February 2020 and must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.

h. Certified Registered Anaesthetist. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in Anaesthesia and at least three (3) years work experience in an accredited health facility. Applicants with a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in Anaesthesia plus Advanced Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia and at least two (2) years working experience in an accredited health facility are eligible to apply. All must be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana and must not be more than 33 years of age by 27 February 2020.

Chaplain.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be and have the following:
a. First Degree not below Second Class Lower (BA) in Theology or Religion from a recognised University/Theological Seminary/College.
b. An ordained Minister of the Methodist, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbyterian, SDA and the Church of Pentecost and be recommended for commissioning into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of the Church.  
c. A minimum of four (4) years pastoral working and probation/internship experience including two (2) years post ordination service in the pastoral field.  
d. Ability to speak English and at least one of the main Ghanaian languages fluently.
e. Must not be more than 35years of age by 27 February 2020.

Imam.      In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be and have the following:
a. First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Islamic Theology (Religion) from a recognized University, Islamic Institution or College.
b. An Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
c. Fluent in both spoken Arabic and English Languages.
d. Ability to read and write good Arabic and English Languages.
e. Practised as Imam for four (4) years and be recognized by a recognised Islamic Religious Institution/Body in Ghana.
f. Recommended for commission into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of a recognized Islamic body in Ghana and must not be more than 35 years of age by 27 February 2020.
 

Forces Pay Corps. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years of age by 27 February 2020 and must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower and a Masters Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
a. Accounting.
b. Finance.
c. Economics.
d. Commerce.
e. Auditing.
f. Alternatively, applicants with CA (Ghana), CIMA, ACCA, CPA, ICSA are eligible.

Ordnance Service. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years of age by 27 February 2020 and must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower and a Masters Degree or post-graduate diploma or certificate from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
a. Chemistry/Biochemistry.
b. Logistics/Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
c. Economics.
d. Publishing.

HOW TO APPLY

Acquire a scratch card at FIFTY GHANA CEDIS (GH₵50.00) from the following designated Post Offices:
a. Greater Accra Region. Burma Camp, Accra North, GPO, Cantonments, Dansoman, Legon, Madina, TUC, Kaneshie, Ministries, Mamprobi, New Achimota, Tema Community 1,Tema Community 11.
b. Central Region. Cape Coast, Agona Swedru, Saltpond, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Winneba, Elmina, Apam.
c. Upper West Region. Wa, Lawra, Tumu.
d. Upper East Region. Bawku, Navrongo, Bolgatanga.
e. Ashanti Region. Kumasi Main, KNUST, Ashanti-Mampong, Bekwai-Ashanti, Konongo, Obuasi, Offinso, Ejura, Juaso, Akrokerri, Ejisu, Agogo.

f. Eastern Region. Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Mpraeso, Suhum, Akim Oda, Aburi, Asamankese, Akropong-Akuapem, Somanya, Akosombo, Nsawam.
g. Volta Region. Ho, Anloga, Keta, Hohoe, Kpando, Denu, Peki, Sogakope.
h. Western Region. Sekondi, Takoradi, Tarkwa, Axim.
i. Western North Region. Enchi, Sefwi Wiawso.
j. Bono Region. Sunyani, Berekum, Bechem, Atebubu, Dormaa Ahenkro.
k. Bono East Region. Techiman, Kintampo.
l. Ahafo Region. Goaso, Duayaw Nkwanta.
m. Northern Region. Tamale, Education Ridge, Yendi.
n. North East Region. Nalerigu, Walewale.
o. Oti Region. Damba, Jasikan, Kadjebi.
p. Savannah Region. Bole, Damango.

Scratch gently to reveal the “PIN” code. The scratch card can be used for three times until a record is successfully submitted.

Log on to the recruitment portal @ http://www.gafrecruitment.com with any of the following browsers:
a. Mozilla Firefox.
b. Google Chrome.

Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.

Click on the Apply Now Tab to open the applicant authentication page.

Enter your card Serial Number, PIN code and select your preferred Arm of Service, type of commission and click “Submit”.

Enter your personal details and take note of the following from pages 1 to 3:
a. Page 1:  Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.
b. Page 2:  Upload a scanned copy of your passport-sized photograph of dimension (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456) and enter any other required data.
c. Page 3: Enter the results of only the three required core subjects on your WASSCE/SSCE results slip, that is; CORE MATHEMATICSAND CORE ENGLISH. Enter your WASSCE or SSSCE Index number, WASSCE or SSSCE results slip Serial Number and select a Tertiary Institution from the list of schools. Enter your graduating GPA/CWA and provide all other required data.   Upload only scanned copies of the following; WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip and First Degree/Certificate (Degree).  NB:  Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip, First Degree/Certificate) to be uploaded, should not exceed 1 (One) Megabyte and should be in JPEG picture format only.

Click on the Preview button to see a summary page of all data provided.   Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.

Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Identification Number.

Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the final report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the Check Details Tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/E-mail and order a re-print.

Closing Date.  Closing date for submission of all online applications is Tuesday 17 December 2019.
