Ex-Real Madrid President Dies From Corona Virus.

Previous Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has passed on at 76 years old in the wake of contracting coronavirus.

Sanz was a director at Real from 1985 to 1995 before taking over as President, a position which he held until 2000.

He engineered their European Cup triumph in 1998, where they beat Juventus in the final, finishing a 32-year dry season in the competition they had once dominated.

After lifting La Septima they included an additional two years later in 2000. He likewise brought Davor Suker, Roberto Carlos and Nicholas Anelka to the Bernabeu.

Sanz’s child Lorenzo San Duran wrote on Twitter: ‘My dad has simply passed on.

‘He didn’t deserve this end right now. Truly outstanding, generally bold and dedicated individuals I have found in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his obsession.’

The triumph in 1998 was Real’s first in Europe’s elite top club competition since 1966. He was succeeded as leader of Real by Florentino Perez, who introduced the Galactico period and returned again in 2009.

Sanz bought Malaga in 2006 before selling the club in 2010.

He was the dad in-law of previous Real Madrid defendER Michel Salgado, who wedded Sanz’s little girl Malula.

Sanz’s child Fernando played for Real somewhere in the range of 1996 and 1999.
