The fight against illegal trades in Africa especially by foreigners with huge negative impact on the African market may become ‘mission-impossible’ if locals joined hands with foreigners in these trades.
In one latest investigation by the Kenyan security services, – Police and military – a gang of Chinese illegal traders has been caught involving in trade of ivories, leopard skins , rotten dog meats, spoiled sea foods etc – contrabands – in the capital Nairobi.
The illegal traders reportedly operate via locals who help in importing and selling these illegally imported unhealthy foods to the Kenyan community.
The locals also go the farthest extent of killing some animals – leopards, elephants, etc and selling out their parts to the Chinese traders at ‘weak prizes’ who later find illegal means of exporting the goods.
Following a tip off, the security officers invaded the ‘cold room’ of the Chinese traders only to find rotten dog meats, crabs, lobsters and live sick dogs ready for butcher and sell.
According to the source, they also found some natural resources which were all acquired illegally.
After failure to explain their acts, the traders with one of their local accomplices was arrested and will be processed for court and prosecution.
However, the question of whether these illegal traders will face the full vigor of the law or they will be covered and protected by the some ‘enemies of progress’ at the fore front who always prefers bribes to saving the motherland AFRICA.
All over Africa, are these traders who are ready to go miles in achieving their goals in spite of whatever damage it may cause to Africa. – galamsey in Ghana, drug markets in Nigeria etc.
What makes it more devastating is the fact that the African leaders care less but only for their little gains.
